Web Servers making tech

What is a "web server", anyway?

web server: A program that is installed on a computer. It "serves" or "gives out" web pages (html, css, ...) and other web content (images, scripts, movies, ...).

web server: A computer that is connected to a network, and has a web server program installed on it so that it can "serve" web pages. (This often means it is connected to the internet, but it could be just your internal LAN. It could even be just for your own computer — when you are developing with your 'localhost', your computer is web server to yourself.)
